Christmas Gift Ideas – Buy Irish

Last year a lot of you enjoyed my blog on buying irish for Christmas. A lot of small businesses struggle to stay open and really count on the Christmas period to make some sales. If we all made a conscious effort  to buy irish we really could make a huge difference to our own economy. There are always irish alternatives to choose from, for example even start by buying more of your Christmas food shopping in Dunnes Stores or your local grocery etc.  Lets face it we all spend a lot of money at Christmas and I personally think I would feel a little bit less guilty knowing I was supporting irish businesses.     CHILDREN The Irish Fairy Door Company I shared this one last year too but its a personal favourite of mine. I got one of these for my nieces last year and they still write notes to their fairy 'Kitty' all the time. The Irish Fairy Door Company is probably one of the cutest gift ideas I have come across. You basically choose from the big selection of fairy doors and a your very on fairy magically moves into your house. It is a magically idea and remember if a fairy lives in your house you always have to keep your room tidy and be a good girl or boy 🙂 For more information check out the website : Prices start at €23.95   Door-Plaques-300x300img_2942

When a family adopts a scout elf and gives it a name, the scout elf receives its Christmas magic and can fly to the North Pole each night to tell Santa Claus about all of the day's adventures. Each morning, the scout elf returns to its family and perches in a different place to watch the fun. Children love to wake up and race around the house looking for their scout elf each morning. I personally would use this all year round if i had kids. I have seen childrens reactions to this first hand and its so cute. Price : €34.99 I have seen these in Arnotts and you can also buy them online (Little Gifts Ltd, a Cavan-based family business retailing personalised Christmas ornaments and gifts, is the Irish distributor of The Elf on the Shelf)   WOMEN   Chupi Chupi is an Irish designer, making delicate jewellery inspired by the beauty of natural and wild things. The gift of music

There are loads of amazing irish bands out there at the moment who regularly play gigs around the country. There is a gig coming up on New Years Eve featuring collaborations with Cathy Davey, Neil Hannon, Lisa Hannigan and Jerry Fish to name but a few. I for one am always looking for something different to do on New Years Eve so this would be a good bowling ball present..hehe..
